The Beautiful, dark, rich and deep voice of the Bass singers are my favorite Operatic voices, and I have a list of many beloved Bass singers that I admire very much…. Štefan Kocán, Ferruccio Furlanetto, James Morris, René Pape, Cesare Siepi, Robert Lloyd, Nicolai Ghiaurov, Martti Talvela and Ildar Abdrazakov.

Ildar Abdrazakov has very interesting operatic career and it can be compared to the career of another great bass, Ruggero Raimondi.  Ildar has performed from Russian Opera, to Verdi and Donizetti to also French Opera.

Mephistopheles in Gounod’s  “Faust”, Attila, Prince Igor, Raimondo in Donizetti’s”Lucia di Lammermoor”, Enrico VII in Donizetti’s “Anna Bolena”, Don Basilio in Rossini’s “Il Barbiere di Siviglia”, Escamillo in Bizet’s “Carmen”, Figaro in Mozart’s “Le Nozze di Figaro” are many of the extraordinary and different roles that Ildar Abdrazakov has performed. Soon, in this new season of the MET, we will see him as Mustafa in Rossini’s “L’Italiana in Algeri” and  as the title role of “Don Giovanni”.

Happy Birthday, Ildar Abdrazakov!
