Alain Resnais (1922-2014)

Today I am going to make a tribute to the great French Film Director Alain Resnais who saddly passed away yesterday, at age 91.

He directed great quality films like “Last Year at Marienbad” (L’année dernière à Mariembad), “Hiroshima mon Amour”, “Je t’aime, je t’aime”, “Mon oncle d’Amérique”, “La guèrre est finie”, “L’amour à mort” and his final film,”Aimer, boire et chanter”.

He also Directed the documentaries like “Toute la Memoire du Monde”, “Nuit et Brouillard”and art films like “Van Gogh”, “Guernica” and “Gauguin”.

Alain Resnais was part of the French new wave (Nouvelle Vague).
His preoccupation with the themes of time, memory and history, and his dazzling exploration of cinematographic technique, have established him as one of France’s most distinctive and influential filmmakers.
Rest in peace, Alain Resnais.
We will never forget you
